About this event
The Great Ocean Trail Ultra is a point-to-point trail running event held on Saturday 24 October 2026 along the Great Ocean Walk in Victoria. Runners can choose from a 100km solo ultra, a 100km two-person relay, or a 45km solo race.
The flagship 100km course begins in Apollo Bay and follows the full length of the Great Ocean Walk to the finish near the Twelve Apostles area. The route is known for its varied coastal terrain, with sections of singletrack, fire trail, beach and cliff-top trail, taking in Otway forest, exposed headlands and sweeping ocean views.
The 100km relay covers the same course split between two runners, with legs of 55km and 45km. The 45km solo option follows the second half of the Great Ocean Walk and starts near Johanna Beach, offering a shorter but still demanding trail challenge.
Event details available publicly also indicate a race briefing and bib collection the day before, with the 100km start taking place early on race morning in Apollo Bay. Cup-free racing is part of the event format, so competitors are expected to bring their own cup or bottle for aid station refills.
