About this event
Explore one of Melbourne's most surprising urban nature pockets on a guided Yarra Bend day that combines bushland walking with a relaxed paddle on the Yarra River. This one-day Take Shape Adventures experience covers about 13 km and is graded as a Grade 3, Kinda Fit outing, with a 9:00 am start and support from experienced guides.
Walk, Lunch, Then Paddle
The day begins around Corben Oval in Fairfield, heading into Yarra Bend's mix of familiar paths, side tracks and quieter bushland corners. After time on the trail, the group pauses for lunch by the river before a kayak safety briefing and basic paddling instruction.
Kayak Gear Included
No paddling experience is needed. The organiser supplies stable double Drifter II kayaks, lifejackets, paddles, kayak safety equipment and dry bags for electronics and valuables. Guides remain with the group on the water while participants practise strokes, paddle upstream and drift back down the Yarra.
Small Supported Group
The event is capped at 16 people. The published minimum age is 14 years, with younger children by enquiry through the organiser. Lunch and snacks are included, with most dietary needs catered for when advised, although participants should bring their own water.
Entry
Places are paid, starting from $175 per person. Transport to and from the meeting point is not included, though the organiser notes they can help arrange ride-sharing. Use the contact options on this event page to book or ask questions.
