Event Date:

The King Valley Challenge is a premier multi-sport event taking place on Sunday, 23 November 2025 at Lake William Hovell, Cheshunt South, VIC. Participants can choose to compete solo or as part of a team in a demanding course comprising a 15km run, 12km kayak, 39km cycle, and a final 3.6km run.

The event also offers standalone options, including the 15km run and shorter 3km and 6km run/walks, catering to a wide range of fitness levels and interests.

The race begins near the boat ramp at Lake William Hovell, following a rugged 4WD track alongside the lake and along the King River through the Alpine National Park, before returning along the same scenic route. The kayak segment involves paddling three laps on the tranquil lake surrounded by alpine scenery. The cycling leg takes competitors along the King River, through Cheshunt and Whitfield, before ascending towards Powers Lookout. The final run finishes on a gravel trail offering spectacular panoramic views over the King Valley.
