The Lake Hume Cycle Challenge is a scenic, multi-distance cycling event at Ebden Reserve on the shores of Lake Hume, celebrating North East Victoria’s waterfront views, rolling high country landscapes and a welcoming community atmosphere.
Riders can choose from four verified route options, designed to suit a range of abilities and interests: a family-friendly 14-kilometre ride on the rail trail, a 42-kilometre rail trail ride to Tallangatta and back, a 64-kilometre loop through Tangambalanga and Sandy Creek, and a longer 114-kilometre challenge ride through some of the region’s quieter country roads.
The event is known for its varied terrain, with some routes featuring climbs and gravel sections, while others offer a gentler ride with big lake views and rail trail scenery. Publicly available event information also notes rider support, drink stations, toilets along the routes, ample parking at the reserve and post-ride refreshments.
Participants are encouraged to register in advance, although on-the-day entries may be available until close to each ride start time. The event also supports a regional cancer centre trust fund, adding a strong community purpose to the day.
