The Maroondah Dam Trail Run is the first race in the Mountain Trail Series, set within the stunning Yarra Ranges National Park, approximately one hour east of Melbourne. This challenging mountain trail experience takes place at Maroondah Reservoir Park, accessible via the Maroondah Highway, about 3 kilometers east of Healesville.
Runners will navigate well-marked courses through native bushland and established walking tracks, winding around the historic Maroondah Reservoir. Expect undulating terrain with rewarding elevation changes and technical sections showcasing the region's natural beauty. The park features gardens with native and exotic trees, native wildlife, and scenic walking tracks suitable for all experience levels.
Available distances include 10km, Half Marathon, Marathon, 30km, and 50km options, with staggered starts and aid stations strategically placed along the course. The multi-lap format for longer distances allows runners to settle into a rhythm while the picturesque parkland setting provides an ideal backdrop for supporters.
April's vibrant autumn colours create the perfect atmosphere for this event. Supporters can enjoy the parkland's playground, lawns, and cool shade while cheering on competitors, with opportunities for picnics or barbecues throughout the day.
