About this event
Pool to Pool is a fast, scenic open-water swimming event along Townsville’s iconic Strand, forming part of the TOWSA Open Water Swim Series in tropical North Queensland.
The event features two race distances:
- 1 kilometre: starts at Strand Park Beach and finishes at Tobruk Memorial Baths.
- 2 kilometres: starts at the Rockpool at the northern end of the Strand and finishes at Tobruk Memorial Baths.
With a point-to-point course, warm tropical setting and a finish at one of Townsville’s historic aquatic venues, Pool to Pool offers an enjoyable challenge for open-water swimmers of different abilities. The event includes separate categories for junior and adult swimmers, with age-group recognition available across the adult field.
Wetsuits are permitted, subject to the event’s nominated wetsuit category. Junior participants must be accompanied by a parent or guardian throughout registration, the briefing, the swim start and the finish.
Pool to Pool will be held on Tuesday, 18 May 2027, in Townsville, Queensland.
