About this event

Red Ribbon Run 2026 brings the community together at Albert Park Lake during the World AIDS Day period. Held on Sunday 29 November from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm, this welcoming, non-competitive fun run and walk raises awareness and vital funds for people living with HIV while recognising that HIV still matters.

Choose Your Distance

Participants can walk, jog or run 5 km around the lake for one lap, or complete two laps for the 10 km option. The event is untimed, so everyone is encouraged to move at their own pace. All ages, fitness levels and abilities are welcome; participants under 16 must be accompanied by an adult.

A Run with Purpose

Each step supports the HIV programs and community services delivered by Thorne Harbour Health. Personal fundraising is optional, although standard registration fees cover event costs and additional fundraising directly supports these services. The morning also creates space to honour people lost to HIV, celebrate the resilience of people living with HIV and work towards a future free from stigma.

Event Day Schedule

  • 9:00 am: registration opens
  • 10:00 am: 10 km run starts
  • 10:15 am: 5 km run starts
  • 11:30 am: presentations and acknowledgements
  • 12:00 pm: Runner Village activities continue
  • 1:00 pm: event concludes

Entry Fees and Inclusions

Early bird registration is $55 until 4 October, general registration is $65 until 8 November and late registration is $75. Concession entry is $35 for eligible participants. People living with HIV and First Nations community members can register free through the organiser.

Registration includes an official runner bib, commemorative Red Ribbon Run medal, barista-made coffee, a goodie bag, course water stations and access to Runner Village activities. A staffed bag-check marquee is also planned.

Course and Accessibility

The course follows the shared pathways around Albert Park Lake and consists mainly of sealed and compact surfaces suitable for most participants. Some sections may be harder to navigate after wet weather. Dogs are welcome when kept under control and participants are asked to remain mindful of others using the course. The Runner Village will bring together community organisations, supporters, entertainment and participants throughout the morning.
