About this event
Discover a different kind of brilliant this October. Run for Autism is a virtual running challenge that empowers participants to make a real difference in the lives of Autistic people across Australia. Whether you're a seasoned runner or just getting started, this flexible 70km challenge can be adapted to suit your pace and lifestyle—no two runs need to be the same.
Organized by Aspect (Autism Spectrum Australia), one of Australia's largest autism-specific service providers and charities, Run for Autism combines physical wellbeing with meaningful fundraising. Every kilometer you run supports critical services for Autistic people facing mental health challenges—with 70% experiencing mental health issues that often go unaddressed. Your participation funds early diagnosis, autism-specific education, and critical research that transforms lives.
How it works is refreshingly simple: register for free, raise funds to support the cause, and complete your chosen distance in October at your own pace. You can run 1–2km daily, tackle 10–20km on weekends, or choose your own adventure. Prefer to halve it? Try 35km. Ready to double it? Challenge yourself with 140km. Custom distances welcome—there's no pressure to fit a standard. Run solo, create a team with friends and family, or rally your workplace or sports club.
Your fundraising efforts have real impact. Raise $100 to earn an exclusive Run for Autism singlet. Hit $500 for a Silver badge, $750 for Gold, or $1000 to become a Runner of Fame and earn a VIP Medal. Every dollar raised goes directly toward creating inclusive, autism-friendly environments where Autistic people feel welcomed, understood, and empowered to realize their different brilliant®.
The stories behind the funds are powerful. Tom was diagnosed at 14, but the diagnosis came too late. He had already masked who he was to fit in, pushing himself to the edge of exhaustion trying to be someone he wasn't. School suffered. Confidence disappeared. It wasn't until he found Aspect's Adult Community Services that everything changed—community, friendship, and finally a path forward. Run for Autism helps ensure more Autistic people get the support Tom eventually found, earlier in their lives.
Join thousands of runners across Australia this October. Connect in our exclusive Run for Autism Facebook Group, share your progress, celebrate fundraising achievements, and get support throughout the challenge. Whether you're running for a loved one, for the cause, or for your own health and wellbeing, you're part of a movement of change.
