About this event
Every day, more than 50 lost and abandoned animals arrive at The Lost Dogs’ Home needing food, shelter and care. This October, Sit Ups for Strays asks participants to complete 50 sit ups each day while raising funds to give these animals a better chance of finding happy, healthy forever homes.
50 sit ups a day, your way
The virtual challenge runs from 1 to 31 October 2026. Participants can tackle all 50 sit ups in one session or spread them throughout the day in smaller sets of five or ten. There is no need to make up missed repetitions, and participants are encouraged to work within their own fitness level and look after their health.
You can take part solo, have your pet cheer from the sidelines, or join with friends and family. Teams can be created during registration or later through the fundraising dashboard, making it easy to share the challenge and encourage one another throughout October.
Helping animals go from lost to loved
Funds raised support The Lost Dogs’ Home as it provides food, shelter and essential care to lost and abandoned animals. Each daily sit up represents the animals arriving at the Home and helps turn a simple fitness goal into practical support for pets waiting for a second chance.

Registration is free. Use the registration link on this event page to create a personalised fundraising page, then share it with friends, family and colleagues who may wish to support the challenge. Participants can fundraise individually or as part of a team and connect with a community of fellow animal lovers.
The goal is to try your best rather than push beyond your limits. Whether the 50 daily sit ups are completed at once or one small set at a time, every effort helps raise awareness and support for animals in need.
