About this event
The Southern Rail Trail Running Festival is a point-to-point trail-running event through South Gippsland, following Victoria’s Great Southern Rail Trail and finishing at the Leongatha rail trail precinct.
Held on Saturday, 13 November 2027, the festival offers seven distances to suit a wide range of participants:
- 2km Family Dash
- 5km run
- 10km fun run
- 21.1km half marathon
- 42.2km marathon
- 72km trail run
- 100km ultra
The longer point-to-point courses begin at Port Welshpool, Fish Creek and Stony Creek before converging on the finish in Leongatha. Along the route, runners pass through the South Gippsland landscape and historic railway corridor, with features including restored trestle bridges and sections near Toora, Foster and Meeniyan.
With shorter community-friendly events alongside marathon and ultra-distance challenges, the festival provides options for families, recreational runners and experienced trail athletes.
