About this event
Stromlo Running Festival is Canberra’s biggest trail running festival, held annually at Stromlo Forest Park in the ACT. The event offers a mix of trail distances, with courses designed to showcase the hills and views around the park and Mt Stromlo.
Runners can choose from a marathon, 30km, 15km, 10km, 5km and a 2.5km kids’ event, making it suitable for experienced trail runners, social participants and families alike. The marathon is a featured distance, and the festival spans a weekend with races scheduled across Saturday and Sunday.
The course is known for its scenic outlooks across Canberra, including views toward Black Mountain Tower and the Brindabella Ranges, with climbs to the summit of Mt Stromlo, known as “The Mother”, for panoramic vistas. The event is cup-free, so participants should bring their own bottle or cup for aid station refills.
Post-run support is available through the free UC Recovery Hub on event day, adding a practical recovery option for runners after their race. Stromlo Running Festival is a standout on the Canberra trail running calendar, combining challenging terrain, strong community spirit and sweeping mountain and city views.
