About this event
The Lion Chase: Winery to Pub is an annual community fun run through the scenic wine village of Great Western, Victoria, on Saturday, 31 October 2026. Participants start at Best’s Wines and finish at the Great Western Hotel, with return transport provided to the starting point.
Choose from three mixed-terrain course options: 2.5 km, 5 km or 13 km. The event welcomes runners, walkers and participants of varying ages and abilities, making it a relaxed way to enjoy Great Western’s rural surroundings and historic wine country.
The event is organised by the Great Western Football Netball Club Lions and raises funds for its Junior Participation Program. Proceeds help local junior players take part in sport without participation fees, reducing costs for families.
After completing the course, participants can enjoy a sausage and a glass of wine at the Great Western Hotel. Free parking is available, and registration is required before the event.
