Walk for Veterans
Event location
Description
Organiser: Scootaville
Most people have seen the Mt Panorama circuit on TV, a few have driven around it but not a lot have walked it. Well here’s your opportunity to walk this magnificent 6.2km race-track and at the same time help numerous Veterans. Join us for a unique and memorable experience as we take to the tarmac on foot, soaking in the incredible views and iconic corners that have made Mt Panorama famous.
Not only will you get a chance to explore the circuit at your own pace, but your participation will directly support vital programs for Australian Veterans. Don’t miss this chance to be part of something special while giving back to those who have served.
Approval has been obtained for us to hold the "Walk for Veterans" event on Sunday, 29th March 2026 and those walking will meet in Harris Park, which is opposite the Pit area on the Main Strait, at 6:30am for a departure at 7:30am.
There’s lots of ways you can participate:
- Enter on your own and walk the complete circuit yourself,
- Get a few mates together and enter as a group with everyone walking the full circuit,
- You can participate as a relay group, with each member walking only part of the circuit and handing off the baton to teammates waiting at designated spots.
- Bring the kids, bring the dog (on a lead) but come along and be part of this remarkable experience.
Whether you’re keen to challenge yourself, enjoy a leisurely stroll with friends, or simply want to show your support, there’s a spot for everyone. Don’t forget to bring your water bottle, slip on a hat, and wear comfy shoes to make the most of your day on the track. Volunteers will be on hand throughout the event to assist with directions and provide encouragement.
Sorry, no scooters, no bikes.
It’s not a race, there’s no prize for finishing first; the true reward is the sense of fulfilment you get from completing a meaningful experience and knowing you’ve supported Veterans who truly need your help.
You should make a weekend of it, the Brotherhood Christian Motorcycle Club hosts the magnificent Bathurst Bike Show on Saturday, the 28th March (see http://www.bathurstbikeshow.com/ ) and the Walk for Veterans takes place at Mt Panorama on Sunday morning. Bathurst will be the place to be that weekend.
Still in the planning stage, the Air Force might also have their hot-air balloon stationed in the Showground arena on the Sunday, offering kids a chance to take a brief ride up and down.
If you’d like to walk the circuit and help Veterans, please complete the form here https://www.radschool.org.au/WalkForVeterans/entry.htm and get it back to us as soon as you can.
Alternatively, if you're unable to make it to Bathurst but would still like to help, please go here https://radschool.org.au/donate/ and make what would be a most appreciated tax deductible donation. Proceeds are shared equally between Legacy which cares for the families of wounded or missing Service personnel and the Air Force Association which has a program to assist homeless VetsWalk for Veterans
