Wollongong Running Festival
Event location
Description
The Wollongong Running Festival, the largest running event in Wollongong, takes place annually on the first Sunday of June, with the next edition scheduled for Sunday, 7 June 2026.
Participants can choose from four distances: a scenic Half Marathon featuring a two-loop course, a 10km run showcasing Wollongong’s highlights, a 5km run, or a 2km Kids Fun Run. All races start on Harbour Street and finish on Marine Drive.
The Half Marathon offers ocean views, iconic landmarks, parklands, and lush bushland, while the 10km course is relatively flat and suitable for runners of all levels, from recreational to advanced athletes aiming for a personal best.
This family-friendly event is fully certified, with accurately measured and officially timed courses to meet the needs of both casual fun runners and serious competitors. All finishers receive a medal to commemorate their achievement.
The race precinct provides a vibrant atmosphere for runners and spectators alike, including food options, recovery zones, post-race massage, and a running expo. Prams are allowed in the 2km and 5km events but not in the Half Marathon or 10km for safety reasons.
