Yamba Ocean Swim is a popular summer open-water swimming event held on the northern New South Wales coast. The 2027 program includes 700m and 2km ocean swims at Yamba Beach, offering options for newer swimmers as well as participants seeking a longer challenge.
- 700m Ocean Swim: A shorter point-to-point course beginning at Convent Beach and finishing at Yamba Main Beach. It is suited to newer ocean swimmers and those looking for a scenic, achievable distance.
- 2km Ocean Swim: A longer course starting and finishing at Yamba Main Beach. Swimmers head out into deeper water before completing a marked rectangular course across the bay.
- Dash for Cash: A fast 150m sprint from the water to the beach, open to swimmers who have competed in one of the longer swims. The short race brings an energetic finish to the day, with cash prizes up for grabs.
The event is scheduled for Sunday 3 January 2027. Ocean conditions and tides may affect the program; if the open beach is unsuitable, the swims may be relocated to the more sheltered Whiting Beach inside the Clarence River mouth.
With accessible distances, a relaxed holiday atmosphere and a picturesque coastal setting, Yamba Ocean Swim is an inviting way for families, recreational swimmers and experienced competitors to enjoy an active summer morning by the water.
