About the club
The Catholic Walking Club of Victoria has brought bushwalkers together since 1951. Its members come from Melbourne and country Victoria. The club aims to encourage walking and a greater appreciation of the outdoors, with a relaxed, friendly atmosphere for adults aged 18 and over.
What to expect
The program includes day walks, overnight base camps and backpacking trips, alongside cycling, winter ski touring and social activities. Day walks usually run on Sundays, with a monthly Wednesday walk and occasional Saturdays, often within a one-and-a-half to two-hour drive of Melbourne. Walks range from introductory outings to harder trips requiring fitness and experience; contact the leader to choose a suitable walk. Some equipment is available for hire.
Joining and costs
Choose an activity from the current club program and book with its leader at least two days beforehand. Let the leader know if you are new. Visitors must complete the acknowledgement of risks form before participating. Four trips within twelve months qualify a prospective member to apply for membership.
Standard single membership is $55 per year, couples membership is $85 and membership for religious orders is $45. Visitors pay $5 per walk. Shared travel, park entry and camping charges may be additional. Use the contact details on this listing for membership enquiries and current arrangements.
