Wollongong Yacht Club welcomes sailors of all skill levels to experience year-round sailing along the stunning Illawarra coastline. Whether you're new to sailing or an experienced mariner, we offer diverse pathways to suit your experience and goals.

Learn to Sail Programs:

  • Discover Sailing Experience: A 3-hour introductory session for those new to sailing, covering basic skills, terminology, and boat handling on small keelboats (16 years and over)
  • Start Crewing Course: The first step on the Australian Sailing accredited pathway, ideal for developing foundational sailing skills with no prior experience required
  • Start Helming Course: Progress to steering and controlling the boat as you advance your skills
  • Start Skippering Course: Master the ability to skipper a boat unsupervised in sheltered waters

Sailing Opportunities:

  • Fortnightly competitive races, including local offshore races and ocean races to Bass Point, Port Hacking, and Kiama
  • Summer twilight sailing sessions
  • Social sailing events throughout the year
  • Major events including the 3-day Australia Day Regatta and The Coal Coast Classic Ocean Race

Membership Options:
