AAA Xtreme Triathlon (AAAXTRI)
Event location
Description
Organiser: Elite Energy Event Management
The Australian Alpine Ascent (AAA) Xtreme Triathlon, held on 14 February 2026 in Kosciuszko National Park, NSW, is one of Australia’s most challenging endurance events. This race tests athletes with rugged terrain, cold alpine waters, and intense elevation gains, making it a true test of stamina and mental toughness.
Part of the 2026 XTRI World Tour, the event offers 100 race slots and serves as Australia’s official qualifier for the XTRI® World Championship at Norseman®, the world’s premier extreme triathlon.
The race begins with a 3.8 km, two-lap swim in the pristine, alpine waters of Lake Jindabyne, located at 918 meters elevation within the Snowy Mountains Hydro-Electric Scheme. Water temperatures range between 12-15°C, adding to the challenge.
The 187 km bike leg follows a scenic yet demanding route from Jindabyne Village to Perisher Village, featuring over 3,800 meters of elevation gain through breathtaking mountain landscapes.
The final 44 km run starts at Charlotte Pass Village and includes a punishing ascent to the summit of Mt Kosciuszko, Australia’s highest peak. After reaching the summit, athletes complete a 10 km descent back to the finish line at Charlotte Pass Village.
Competitors earn 200 X-POINTS for finishing, with 50 points for those who do not finish.
For those interested, the AAA Trail Runs are also held on the same day at the same location.
