About this event
Cape to Cape MTB is a four-day mountain bike stage race in the Margaret River region and is widely described as Australia’s largest and most popular event of its kind. The course begins at Cape Leeuwin and finishes at Cape Naturaliste, taking riders through coastal trails, national parks, forest, farmlands, mountain bike parks and bush, with sections that can include private land only open during the race.
The event is typically around 200km in total with about 2,500m of climbing, although publicly listed course summaries vary slightly, with one source noting roughly 210km. Daily stages are generally in the 34km to 65km range, with terrain designed to mix fast-flowing singletrack, fire trails, farm tracks and groomed downhill sections.
For 2026, the event is listed in Margaret River, Western Australia, from 15 to 18 October. The race is known for its varied riding, scenic South West landscapes and strong local hospitality, including trail-rich finishes that showcase the region’s vineyards and coastal setting.
