About this event
The Margaret River Ultra Marathon is a point-to-point trail running event set in the Margaret River region of south-west Western Australia. The course covers 80 kilometres of varied terrain, with runners tackling coastal trails, towering karri forest, headlands and sections close to the Cape to Cape coastline.
The race can be entered as a solo ultra or as part of a relay team of up to five runners, making it suitable for both experienced ultra runners and teams taking on the challenge together. Public event details also confirm that the route starts on the coast and finishes inland, with the full course designed to showcase the region’s scenery and trail-running variety.
In addition to the 80-kilometre ultra, the event also includes a 42-kilometre trail marathon, giving runners another way to experience the same iconic region over a shorter distance. The Margaret River Ultra Marathon is recognised as a qualifying trail event and is known for its scenic, demanding course through one of Australia’s best-loved running destinations.
