About this event
The Geo Bay Cool Water Classic is a 20-kilometre open-water swimming challenge through the clear, cool waters of Geographe Bay. Held on Saturday, 14 November 2026, the point-to-point course starts in Dunsborough and follows the sandy coastline towards Busselton, finishing at the iconic Busselton Jetty.
Designed for experienced swimmers, the event combines endurance, strategy and spectacular South West scenery. The course is divided into five legs of approximately 2.5 to 5 kilometres, creating options for solo swimmers as well as duos and teams of three, four or five. Each swimmer must complete the full leg they start.
Support is central to the event. Every swimmer must be accompanied by a paddle craft for the entire swim, while multiple beach parties along the route provide opportunities to refuel, change swimmers in relay teams and enjoy encouragement from spectators. Power vessels are not permitted to support swimmers.
Water safety remains a priority, with wetsuits required for every swimmer if the water temperature is below 18 degrees on the morning of the event. Solo entrants must be at least 16 years old on event day, while duo and team members must be at least 14; participants under 18 require parent or guardian permission.
Whether undertaken as a personal endurance milestone, a relay adventure or a long-awaited open-water challenge, the Cool Water Classic offers an unforgettable way to experience Geographe Bay. Every entry includes a donation to Parkinson’s WA, adding a charitable contribution to this demanding and scenic swimming event.
