Join the **Goldsborough Goldrush** on **Saturday, 12 September 2026**, an exhilarating **trail race** along the historic **Goldfield Trail** deep within the pristine rainforests of **Wooroonooran National Park**, Queensland.
Choose from **four unique distances**, all featuring **out-and-back courses** that let you track your progress to scenic turnaround points. The **5km run** offers a gentle journey along the flat, grassy floor of the **Mulgrave River Valley**. The **10km run** ventures deeper into the shady rainforest on a wide, undulating earthen track, while the **18km run** extends further to the stunning **East Mulgrave Causeway** turnaround. For the ultimate challenge, the **Goldsborough Goldrush Marathon** is widely regarded as one of the most demanding trail marathons in **Far North Queensland**.
This event is not a formal road race but a **true wilderness experience**, characterized by **hilly terrain**, potential **wet underfoot conditions**, and **dense tropical vegetation**. It is designed for **experienced trail runners** comfortable navigating lush rainforest, creek crossings, and rolling trails. Every course traces the path of old **gold miners**, offering a genuine connection to history alongside **stunning rainforest vistas** in the **Wet Tropics World Heritage Area**.
All races begin at the **Goldsborough Valley Day Use Area**, a serene spot nestled beside the Mulgrave River, approximately **45 minutes south of Cairns**. This remote location offers a true **wilderness running experience** in one of Queensland's most spectacular settings. Please arrive at least **30 minutes before your start time** for registration and the race briefing, and remember that **parking is limited** with **carpooling recommended** due to the lack of public transport.
