About this event
The Australian Retirement Trust Cardiac Challenge is a three-day, 319-kilometre cycling event from Cairns to Cooktown, running from 19 to 21 September 2026. It is the 20th anniversary of the event and continues to raise funds for cardiac care across Far North Queensland.
Riders travel through some of the region’s most striking landscapes, taking in rainforest, rolling hills and country roads across Far North Queensland. The route is designed as a challenging but rewarding journey that brings together cyclists of different abilities in support of a common cause.
The event’s fundraising efforts support the Far North Queensland Hospital Foundation, helping to provide life-saving cardiac equipment, outreach services and hospital support for patients across the region. It is recognised as a major community fundraiser with donations directed to improve cardiac services in Far North Queensland.
Formerly known as the QSuper Cardiac Challenge, the event now operates under the Australian Retirement Trust name and remains one of the region’s best-known charity rides. Places for riders are limited, and the event continues to attract strong community support each year.
