GSER - Great Southern Endurance Run
Event location
Description
The Great Southern Endurance Run (GSER) will take place from 21 to 23 November 2025 at Mt Hotham in Victoria’s High Country, Australia. This premier mountain trail running event offers five challenging distances: 14km, 28km, 56km, 50 miles, and the returning 100-mile ultra.
The 14km distance serves as an introduction to mountain trail running, following the scenic Hotham Huts loop with stunning panoramic views. The 28km race features demanding climbs and rewards runners with summits of Mt Feathertop and Mt Hotham. For those ready to push beyond a marathon, the 56km course showcases iconic trails including Bon Accord Track, Bungalow Spur, and the Razorback. The 50-mile event is designed for experienced trail runners who have completed a 100km race and seek a new challenge; it can be run solo or as part of a team relay.
The highlight is the 100-mile ultra, starting on Friday, which weaves predominantly along single-track trails and extensive sections of the renowned Australian Alps Walking Track. This course offers an extraordinary test of endurance through some of the most rugged and breathtaking terrain in Australia’s Victorian Alpine National Park.
GSER combines the thrill of a major mountain running event with a warm, inclusive community atmosphere, supported by outstanding crew access and unique spectator vantage points. Whether you are a first-time trail runner or an ultra-distance veteran, GSER promises an unforgettable adventure amid some of Australia’s most spectacular alpine scenery.
