The inaugural Southern Rail Trail Running Festival will take place on Saturday, 30 May 2026, set in the picturesque South Gippsland Region, Victoria, Australia.
Runners will traverse the scenic Great Southern Rail Trail, winding through lush forests, rolling farmland, and quaint towns, all framed by stunning views of Wilsons Promontory. The festival offers a variety of distances to suit every runner, including 100km, 72km, Marathon, Half Marathon, 10km, 5km Fun Run, and a 2km Family Dash.
The flagship 100km ultra-marathon presents a rewarding challenge, starting in the coastal town of Port Welshpool and moving inland through charming communities and idyllic countryside. Participants may run solo or form relay teams of two or four, covering four legs ranging from 17km to 33km.
Other long-distance events begin at various points along the trail, while the 10km and 5km out-and-back courses start from Leongatha, offering accessible options for runners of all levels.
