About this event
The Maribyrnong Valley Park Back Yard Ultra is a last-one-standing trail running challenge held in Melbourne, with runners completing a 6.7-kilometre loop every hour until only one competitor remains. It is a demanding endurance event that rewards pacing, discipline and mental toughness as much as physical fitness.
Participants can choose from different entry options, including shorter set-distance formats or the full unlimited-laps challenge, making the event accessible to runners with a range of goals and experience levels. The course is designed around repeated laps, so competitors must manage their effort carefully from the first start through to the final hour.
This event is part of the Backyard Ultra style of racing, where there are no fixed placings beyond the last runner standing. It is a distinctive format for anyone looking for a tough, social and highly strategic running experience in a park setting.
