About this event

Nobbys 2 Newcastle Ocean Swim is a scenic 2km point-to-point ocean swim along Newcastle’s iconic coastline, starting at Nobbys Beach and finishing at Newcastle Beach.

Swimmers begin near the base of Nobbys Lighthouse before heading out between the reef breaks and turning south along a marked course parallel to the shore. The route passes Shotland Esplanade, Cowrie Hole and Newcastle Ocean Baths before the final turn towards the beach finish.

Held on Saturday, 23 January 2027, the event offers confident ocean swimmers the chance to combine a memorable coastal challenge with Newcastle’s vibrant beachside atmosphere. The course may include swell and chop, depending on conditions, so some open-water experience is recommended.

Registration is scheduled to open at 7.00am at Nobbys Beach, with the swim briefing at the start line at 8.50am and the swim commencing at 9.00am. Presentations are scheduled for 10.15am at Newcastle Surf Life Saving Club.

With water-based support, a clearly marked course and a finish at one of Newcastle’s best-known beaches, this is a standout summer ocean swim for participants seeking a rewarding coastal experience.
