About this event
The Warriewood to Mona Vale Swim (& Family Swim) is a long-running open-water event in Mona Vale, bringing together seasoned ocean swimmers and families for a scenic coastal swim in New South Wales. It is scheduled for Sunday, 17 January 2027.
The main event is a 2.26km point-to-point swim from Warriewood Beach to Mona Vale Beach, offering a classic coastal crossing with open water, headlands and a satisfying beach-to-beach finish. A 1km Family Swim is also part of the program at Mona Vale, making the day accessible for newer swimmers and those wanting a shorter, community-focused experience.
First held in the 1977–78 season with just 20 swimmers, the event is regarded as one of Australia’s earlier organised ocean swims. It has strong local surf club roots and remains closely connected to the surrounding community and surf lifesaving tradition.
On event day, swimmers typically register at Mona Vale before the point-to-point race, with transport provided for the longer course. The program also includes waves for different age groups and fins and skins entries, creating a well-organised and inclusive swim day.
Whether you are drawn by the history, the coastline or the shared atmosphere of a summer ocean swim, this event offers a memorable way to kick off the season.
