About this event
The Rip View Swim Classic is an open-water swimming event held at Point Lonsdale on the Bellarine Peninsula, overlooking the entrance to Port Phillip Bay known as The Rip.
Swimmers can choose from three distances: a 600-metre swim, a 1.4-kilometre swim and a 3.8-kilometre swim. The courses use a distinctive stretched-out layout that follows the curve of Lonsdale Bay inside the heads, providing swimmers with views along the coastline.
- 600-metre Groyne2Groyne swim: A short, accessible course that starts near the third groyne on Point Lonsdale Front Beach, follows the marked course along the shoreline and finishes near the playground swings.
- 1.4-kilometre Rip View Swim Classic: The event’s feature swim, tracing the Point Lonsdale Bight from the Springs car park to the finish near the swings in Point Lonsdale’s main street.
- 3.8-kilometre Rip View Swim Challenge: A longer challenge that incorporates the 1.4-kilometre course before finishing at Point Lonsdale Front Beach.
The 600-metre Groyne2Groyne Legends handicap race adds a celebratory and competitive element, bringing established swimming champions together with younger swimmers aged 10 to 15. The event is part of the Great Victorian Swim Series.
The Rip View Swim Classic will be held on Wednesday, 30 December 2026, at Point Lonsdale Main Beach in Queenscliff, Victoria.
