About this event
The Rip View Swim Classic is a long-running open water swimming event held annually in Point Lonsdale on Victoria’s Bellarine Peninsula. The 2026 event is scheduled for 30 December 2026, with swimmers returning to the sheltered waters near the entrance to Port Phillip Bay for a summer race day with coastal views and a strong community atmosphere.
Designed for a range of abilities, the event offers 600m, 1.4km and 3.8km swims. The courses follow a stretched-out layout along the curve of Lonsdale Bay, and the event website describes the swim area as well protected from the prevailing winds and most swell.
The Rip View Swim Classic is part of the Great Victorian Swim Series and is promoted as a family-friendly day of ocean swimming. It also features a 600m handicap race for younger swimmers, adding a fun and competitive option to the program.
With a reputation for attracting a large field each year, the event combines open water racing, summer holiday energy and a scenic bayside setting. It is a popular way to spend a day by the water in one of Victoria’s best-known coastal spots.
