About this event
The San Remo Channel Challenge is a swim-and-run aquathlon held as part of the Bass Coast Series in San Remo, Victoria. It features a 550-metre channel swim from the San Remo foreshore across to Newhaven on Phillip Island, followed by a 2-kilometre bridge run back into town to the finish.
This event is known as a fast, tide-dependent challenge, with the swim timed to take place in the short slack-water window at the channel. Competitors must complete the course within that period, which adds an extra tactical edge to the race.
The challenge is open to individual and relay entrants, with category racing across age groups. Minimum entry age is 15 years on the day of the event.
Event proceeds support volunteer lifesaving services for Phillip Island and the surrounding region, giving the race a strong community focus as well as a competitive one.
With its coastal setting, bridge crossing and compact course, the San Remo Channel Challenge offers a distinctive mix of open-water swimming and road running in one of Victoria’s most iconic seaside race locations.
