About this event

The South Maroubra Ocean Swim is a popular autumn ocean swim at South Maroubra Beach in Sydney’s eastern suburbs, bringing the summer swim season to a lively close.

Swimmers can choose from 500m, 1km or 2.5km courses, making the event suitable for a range of abilities, from casual ocean swimmers to those after a bigger challenge.

It forms part of the Triple Crown Ocean Swim Series and is known for its community feel, friendly finish-line atmosphere and strong local surf club support.

Organisers typically stage the event from the beach and adjacent surf club facilities, with registrations, briefings and presentations held on the day.

Cash prizes are awarded to the fastest male and female swimmers in each distance, with the largest prize pool attached to the 2.5km event.

The swim is also a social day out, with a beachside atmosphere, post-race celebrations and plenty of support for participants and spectators alike.

It is a good fit for swimmers looking for a scenic ocean course, a well-run local event and a relaxed way to finish the season on a high.
