About this event
The Sri Chinmoy Tan Team Relays is a combined team relay and individual running event held on Melbourne’s iconic Tan Track, with the race based around the well-known Pillars of Wisdom area in the Botanic Gardens precinct.
The feature event is a 42.1km relay made up of 11 laps of the Tan, with four runners per team. Teams can be all male, all female or mixed, and mixed teams must include at least one male and one female runner.
Each team carries a baton, which is passed in the transition zone after each lap. The event rules require the baton to be exchanged every lap, and each runner must complete at least two laps.
Alongside the relay, the event also offers individual running options over shorter Tan distances, making it suitable for both social runners and those looking for a competitive challenge.
The event includes multiple team award categories, such as social, corporate, fitness club, baby vets and super vets, creating a broad, inclusive race day atmosphere.
