About this event
The Great North Walk Trail Running Festival returns to New South Wales’ Central Coast on Sunday, 21 September 2025, offering challenging and scenic trail races of 50km, 30km, and 10km.
All race courses start and finish at the event hub in Patonga, incorporating sections of the historic Great North Walk alongside diverse trails within Brisbane Water National Park. Participants will experience varying elevations, with ascents ranging from 329m in the 10km race to 1,485m in the 50km event, providing a rigorous and rewarding trail running challenge.
The Great North Walk itself is a renowned 250km walking track connecting Sydney and Newcastle, opened in 1988 during Australia’s Bicentennial year. It is celebrated for traversing some of the region’s most spectacular natural landscapes.
Organised by the Terrigal Trotters, this festival fosters a supportive atmosphere for trail runners of all levels and serves as a qualifier for prestigious events like the Six Foot Track for the longer distances.
