About this event
Ultra24 is an open-water swimming event along Victoria’s iconic Mornington Peninsula, with a 24-kilometre ultra marathon course from Safety Beach to Sorrento. The 2027 event will take place on Saturday, 13 February, with morning starts for all swim distances.
Participants can choose from 6-kilometre, 12-kilometre and 24-kilometre courses, making the event suitable for swimmers seeking a shorter challenge as well as those ready for the full peninsula crossing. The event is designed as a community swim rather than a conventional race, encouraging swimmers to support one another throughout the shared endurance experience.
Safety is a central part of the event. The course operates within the five-knot boating zone, with tidal assistance incorporated into the planning. Every swimmer is accompanied by a dedicated kayaker on the water and has individual land-based support. Event staff are positioned both on the water and on land to assist participants and help ensure a safe, enjoyable passage from Safety Beach to Sorrento.
