About this event

The Sorrento Bay Swim is a major summer fundraiser for the volunteer-run Sorrento Surf Life Saving Club and a standout open-water swim on the local calendar. It brings together swimmers of different abilities for a coastal event that finishes on the Sorrento Foreshore, with proceeds helping support beach safety, junior surf awareness programs and vital rescue equipment.

Held in Sorrento, Victoria on Sunday 17 January 2027, the swim offers three courses: a 600m option for junior and novice swimmers, a 2km swim for experienced participants, and a 4km challenge for elite swimmers. The courses use the bay’s protected waters and are designed to suit a wide range of open-water experience levels.

The event is part of the Great Victorian Swim Series and is known for its summer atmosphere, community spirit and scenic foreshore setting. It is a popular choice for swimmers looking for a well-organised ocean swim with a clear progression of distances, from first-time participants through to seasoned competitors.
