About this event

The Sorrento Bay Swim is an annual open-water swimming event on the Sorrento foreshore, featuring 4km, 2km and 600m courses. The 600m distance is suitable for junior and novice swimmers, while the longer courses offer a challenge for experienced open-water swimmers.

Approximately 600 swimmers are expected to take part across the three courses. The event supports the volunteer-run Sorrento Surf Life Saving Club, helping fund beach safety initiatives, junior surf awareness programs and essential rescue equipment.

4km swim: Starts west of Blairgowrie Yacht Squadron at 10am.
600m swim: Starts near the Sorrento Beach amenities block at 10.15am.
2km swim: Starts from Sullivans Bay at 10.55am.

All courses finish on the Sorrento Foreshore, just west of The Baths Sorrento. Wave starts of up to 60 swimmers every five minutes are scheduled around high tide to support favourable swimming conditions.

The 2027 Sorrento Bay Swim takes place on Sunday, 17 January 2027, from 10am to 12.30pm.
