About this event

Ultra-Trail Australia: UTA50 & UTA100 is Australia’s premier trail running event, held on Saturday, May 15, 2027, in the stunning Blue Mountains National Park of Katoomba, NSW[1][2]. Starting at the iconic Scenic World, the challenging 100km course traverses a diverse mix of terrain—including single-track trails and wide paths—through the World Heritage-listed Blue Mountains, offering breathtaking landscapes and an emotional journey that honors the traditional Gundungurra country[1][3][7]. The 50km route follows the second half of the 100km course through the beautiful Kedumba Valley, delivering the same stunning vistas and natural beauty as its longer counterpart, making it the perfect choice for runners tackling their first ultra or stepping up from shorter distances[1][5]. Additional races held over the weekend include the UTA11, UTA22, and the elite UTAMiler (100 miles), catering to all levels of trail runners[2][4]. With over 18 years of history, Ultra-Trail Australia has captivated runners locally and internationally, quickly becoming one of the most celebrated endurance events in Australian history and a key part of the UTMB World Series[1][3][9]. The event base, start, and finish are all located at Scenic World, Katoomba, approximately 100km west of Sydney via the Great Western Highway[1][4]. Mandatory gear requirements include water capacity, emergency blanket, whistle, first aid supplies, mobile phone, headlamp, and weather-appropriate clothing, with failure to comply resulting in disqualification[4]. Finishers of UTA50 and UTA100 earn 4 and 6 UTMB Running Stones, respectively, contributing to their UTMB Index[4][5].
