About this event
Swim in the beautiful waters of Catseye Beach at the Hamilton Island Ocean Swim on Sunday, 22 November 2026. Set among the Whitsunday Islands, this tropical event combines a memorable open-water challenge with the relaxed atmosphere of a Hamilton Island getaway.
Choose the distance that suits you:
- 2km swim: A longer challenge for experienced open-water swimmers.
- 750m swim: A shorter competitive distance in the calm, turquoise waters of Catseye Beach.
- 350m race: A dedicated event for competitors under 13 years of age.
Competitors in the 2km and 750m swims must be at least 13 years old on 21 November 2026. The races start at 8am, followed by post-race recovery and presentations at the Beach Pavilion from 10am.
For visitors travelling from the mainland, a Cruise Whitsundays ferry service is scheduled to depart from Shute Harbour at 6.30am, with the last return service departing Hamilton Island at 5.30pm. Check the latest transport and event information when planning your trip.
After the swim, make the most of Hamilton Island’s tropical setting with time at the beach, resort facilities and the many activities available across the island. Whether you are chasing a new open-water challenge, introducing a young swimmer to competition or simply looking for an active island escape, the Hamilton Island Ocean Swim offers a spectacular way to experience the Whitsundays.
