About the coaching
Metro Tennis runs children’s group coaching at Port Melbourne Tennis Club. Its junior programmes introduce the basics of tennis and provide a pathway towards competition, using modified equipment and balls to support learning.
What to expect
- Mini Metro is a red-ball programme for ages 4–8, with 30-minute lessons and four pupils per coach.
- Next Generation is an orange-ball programme for ages 9–14, with 45-minute lessons and five pupils per coach. It covers different areas of play with an emphasis on preparing children for competition.
The coaching approach emphasises learning in stages and helping each player develop in a fun, healthy environment. Racquets can be borrowed for lessons. Children should wear comfortable clothing and suitable tennis shoes or flat-soled runners, and bring a water bottle, hat and sunscreen.
How to join
Contact Metro Tennis to check availability at Port Melbourne Tennis Club, then complete the online enrolment form with the preferred programme and lesson time. The coaching team confirms the place; submitting the form does not guarantee availability. Coaching runs during school terms, with an extra week available for weather make-up lessons.
