Description
We are a Brisbane based indoor sports hub consisting of six badminton courts in an arena that measures up to 800 square meters. Sam's Badminton Arena was not born solely for the purpose of doing business, but also for the intent to promote the sport in the community and to provide the best facilities and services to both its members and casual players.
The club is owned and run by Mr. Stephen Koshy Sam, who is a Physical Education Teacher, and holds a Master’s and an M. Phil degree in Physical Education and an accredited coach with Badminton Australia. With over 21 years’ experience in coaching, teaching, and managing various sporting events, Stephen has used his skills and experience to build a large badminton facility to train talented players and enable them to participate in major tournaments. He has been training more than 40 school students aged between 7- 18 years by hiring school halls to unite students from different communities during weekends for the past 5 years. His two sons Ephraim and Emmanuel, aged 15 and 13 respectively (in 2020), represented Queensland state in the "Under-15 Nationals" in 2018 and 2019. With limited availability of Badminton courts in the North of Brisbane, Stephen had to travel long distances to the South of Brisbane for training his boys in Badminton. Considering his sons and many such aspiring young talented players in the community, Stephen decided to start a badminton center in the North of Brisbane not only to encourage the sport, but also for the development of badminton among all other communities. The establishment of Sam's Badminton has been his lifelong dream and is a result of his passion for the sport encouraged and inspired by his late father, Rev. Dr. P. K. Sam, his brothers, Dr. Samson Sam and Benson Sam and his sister, Sharon George, who were all professional athletes.
