About this event
The 40th Lake Leschenaultia Open Water Swim takes place on Sunday, 8 November 2026, at Lake Leschenaultia in Chidlow, in Perth’s eastern hills. Set in a peaceful freshwater lake within a national park, the event offers a scenic alternative to ocean swimming and is part of the WOW Community Swims series.
Swimmers can choose from four around-the-buoys courses:
- 400m Jump in the Lake: An accessible introduction to open-water swimming, suitable for swimmers aged 8 and over. Swimmers aged 8 must be accompanied by a guardian.
- 800m swim: An approachable step up in distance for swimmers aged 10 and over.
- 1.6km swim: A classic open-water distance for swimmers aged 11 and over.
- 3.2km swim: A two-lap challenge for confident swimmers aged 12 and over.
With multiple distances catering for juniors, newcomers and experienced swimmers, the event welcomes participants of a range of ages and abilities. The lake setting, clearly defined buoy courses and freshwater format make it a distinctive event on the Western Australian open-water swimming calendar.
