Blackwood Marathon Relay
Event location
Description
The Blackwood Marathon Relay is a distinctive multi-discipline relay race held annually on the last Saturday of October in Western Australia. On Saturday, 25 October 2025, competitors will journey approximately 60 km from Boyup Brook to Bridgetown through the scenic Blackwood River Valley.
This unique event combines five disciplines: running, canoeing, swimming, horse riding, and cycling, offering a challenging yet enjoyable experience for both elite athletes and recreational participants. Teams consist of five members, each specializing in one discipline, or individuals can compete solo as iron-person entrants.
Established in 1979 by members of the Bridgetown Rotary Club to commemorate Western Australia’s 150th Anniversary, the Blackwood Marathon has grown significantly and now attracts over 750 competitors. The event is also a key fundraiser for the Rotary Club of Bridgetown, supporting important community projects including youth mental health initiatives.
Whether competing for sport, camaraderie, or charity, participants and spectators alike enjoy a well-organized day set against the tranquil beauty of Western Australia's South West countryside.
