About this event
The Brighton Jetty Classic is South Australia’s largest open-water swimming event by participation, held annually on the first Sunday in February around the iconic Brighton Jetty in Adelaide. The 2027 event is scheduled for Sunday, 7 February, in Brighton, South Australia.
Swimmers can take part in the 1,500-metre Brighton Jetty Classic or the 400-metre Jetty Fun Swim. The 1,500-metre race starts in the water and finishes on the beach, while the 400-metre event begins and ends on the beach, making it a welcoming option for participants seeking a shorter challenge. Children’s swims are also listed as part of the event program.
The Brighton Jetty provides a central viewing point for spectators, with the action taking place along the beach and around the historic jetty. The event attracts fields of up to 1,000 swimmers and has been held since 2006.
Organised by the Brighton Surf Life Saving Club, the event supports community fundraising, with proceeds benefiting more than 100 sporting groups and charities since its inception. The day also features a fast-lap sprint for invited qualifying swimmers and a display of sculptures around the surf club and nearby reserve.
