About this event
The Captain Christie Ocean Swim is a point-to-point ocean swim along the scenic South Coast of New South Wales. Swimmers begin at the sheltered Gerringong Boat Harbour before following the coastline around the headland to finish at Werri Beach.
The course is approximately 1.8 kilometres and combines open-water swimming with views of the rugged coastal landscape. The event continues a local tradition linked to the historic route associated with Captain Christie.
Suitable for swimmers aged 14 and over, the swim is designed as a challenging but accessible community ocean event. Participants should be prepared for variable coastal conditions, including swell and water temperatures that may be around 21–23°C during the event period.
Event-day activities include registration, a pre-race safety briefing, the main swim and presentations. A walking route of approximately 1.2 kilometres connects the finish area at Werri Beach with the starting point at the boat harbour.
