About this event
Kokoda Challenge — Sydney is a team endurance event set for Saturday 19 September 2026 in the Helensburgh and Heathcote National Park area, with routes of 18km, 48km or 96km available for teams to tackle.
Inspired by the 1942 Kokoda Campaign, the challenge is designed to test courage, endurance, mateship and sacrifice across demanding bush terrain. Teams of 2 to 5 take part, and the event is closely linked to the Kokoda Youth Foundation, with fundraising required as part of entry.
As Australia’s toughest team endurance event, the Kokoda Challenge is aimed at participants looking for a serious physical and mental test in a supportive team setting. It also includes opportunities for school groups and gym teams to compete in associated categories.
Note: the Sydney event has also been announced as postponed until 2027 on the organiser’s website, so the 2026 listing may be subject to change.
