Helensburgh, NSW, Australia

Description

Event Date:

The Kokoda Challenge is making its Sydney debut on Saturday, 20 September 2025, offering an unforgettable team endurance adventure.

Starting from Rex Jackson Oval in Helensburgh, NSW, teams of 3-4 participants can choose to tackle one of three courses—18km, 48km, or the iconic 96km—winding through the breathtaking landscapes of Royal National Park and Heathcote National Park.

The 96km course honors the distance of the original Kokoda Track in Papua New Guinea, challenging teams to embody the Kokoda Spirit of courage, endurance, mateship, and sacrifice as they aim to finish together within 39 hours.

This event is more than a physical challenge; it’s a tribute to the resilience and teamwork exemplified by the Australian Diggers during the 1942 Kokoda Campaign. Success is measured by finishing as a complete team—no one left behind—reflecting the true spirit of the Challenge.

The Kokoda Challenge welcomes participants of all fitness levels, including hikers and trail runners, and encourages schools, friends, families, and colleagues to join in.

Funds raised support the Kokoda Youth Foundation, which empowers young Australians through programs that foster the Kokoda Spirit and help overcome disadvantage.

Other Kokoda Challenge events are held in the Sunshine Coast, Brisbane, and Gold Coast.
