About this event
Set among the tranquil bushland of the Perth Hills, the Lake Leschenaultia Open Water Swim offers a scenic and welcoming freshwater swimming experience in Chidlow. Held on Sunday, 8 November 2026, the event will celebrate its 40th anniversary and is expected to attract swimmers, families and spectators from across Western Australia.
With calm lake water instead of ocean waves, tides and swell, the event provides an approachable setting for swimmers of different ages and abilities. Choose from four distances—400m, 800m, 1.6km and 3.2km—whether taking on a first open-water swim, building confidence over a longer course or completing a personal challenge.
Organised by the Maida Vale Swimming Club, the long-running community event combines a relaxed atmosphere with the excitement of organised racing. Swimmers can enjoy the natural setting while family and friends watch from the lakeside.
Make a day of the visit by exploring the surrounding bushland and walking trails, enjoying a picnic or using the lake’s recreational facilities. The venue also offers free barbecues, an on-site kiosk and kayak hire, creating plenty to do before or after the swim.
Whether you are new to open-water swimming or returning for another distance, the Lake Leschenaultia Open Water Swim is an opportunity to enjoy a memorable day of swimming, fresh air and community spirit in the Perth Hills.
