About this event

The Melbourne Marathon Festival is one of Australia’s biggest running events, returning to Melbourne across the weekend of Saturday 10 and Sunday 11 October 2026. It brings together runners and walkers of all levels with distances ranging from a full marathon to shorter family-friendly options.

Courses start on Batman Avenue and finish with a memorable lap of honour around the Melbourne Cricket Ground. Along the way, participants pass some of Melbourne’s best-known landmarks, making it as much a city experience as a sporting challenge.

The festival includes the Marathon, Wheelchair Marathon, Half Marathon, 10km Run, 5km Run and a family-friendly 2.5km Walk. It is designed to welcome seasoned athletes, first-time entrants and participants of all ages and abilities.

Known for its electric atmosphere, large field of entrants and iconic finish, the Melbourne Marathon Festival is a standout spring event in Victoria’s sporting calendar.
