The Trail Running Series: Plenty Gorge
Event location
Description
Organiser: Rapid Ascent
The Trail Running Series event at Plenty Gorge is a renowned race set within the natural beauty of Yellow Gum Park, Victoria. Featuring challenging and scenic trails, the event offers three course options—short (7 km), medium (13 km), and long (24 km)—that loop through pristine bushland where participants may encounter native wildlife such as kangaroos, echidnas, and galahs.
Runners on the medium and long courses will experience the unique adventure of crossing the ankle-deep Plenty River, adding an exciting element to the race. The courses traverse varied terrain with rewarding valley views, making it a favourite among trail running enthusiasts.
Please note, the Plenty Gorge event was originally planned to be the first race of the 2024 series; however, Race 1 of the 2024 Trail Running Series will now be held at Smiths Gully in the Yarra Valley on 2 June 2024.
Despite this change, Plenty Gorge remains a key venue in the series, celebrated for its friendly, social atmosphere and immersive off-road running experience.
